In the heart of the Roussillon region lies the department of the Pyrenées Orientales,
this is where Mas Talaïa can be found nestled between the beautifully preserved
villages of Montalba-le-Chateau and Tarerach. In the commune of Rodés, only a
short distance from the national heritage site of the Orgues of Ille-sur-tet.

An exceptional location: the altitude.
The most beautiful wine growing regions in the Roussillon area are to be found at
high altitude : it is with this conviction that Talaïa was born in 2019. Overlooking the
Roussillon plain and the Mediterranean sea, at an altitude of more than 500 meters,
in the shadow of the ever present Mount Canigou, the guardian of the regions
vineyards.

A unique region in Roussillon.
Our domaine benefits from the clement Mediterranean climate (hot, dry summers,
and generally mild winters), and along with it’s high altitude there comes a certain
peculiarity. The nights, which are colder than in the plains below, allow the grapes to
maintain their freshness and rigour. This remarkable geographical position has a
very favourable impact on the balance and harmony of our wines.

Soil and grape variety.
In a landscape of predominantly scrubland, and a chaotic soil structure formed from
granite and decomposed granite, the 18 acres of Mas Talaïa are planted with
Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc, Carignan Noir and Syrah. As
many grape varieties as these conditions will allow to flourish.

Objective : Zero pesticide residue.
The sole objective of our work in the vineyard is to harvest healthy grapes. With
great attention paid to every gesture, each treatment of the vineyard is reflected
upon and controlled with one goal, zero pesticide residue.

Vinification and growing.
Every grape variety is fermented separately, and after gentle pressing, the juices
start their fermentation process in stainless steel thermoregulated vats. A long and
demanding tasting process allows us to create and verify the final assembly of our
wines. The ageing can at this point, commence slowly until the bottling.
